“The Near Perfect Body and the pathway to yours”! I am Roger Shorr and this is the NPB Society.

We were founded on July 10, 2023, and are a very young society.

As you can see, the picture above is of me standing on the beach in Florida in September of 2023. (As of this writing, it is still September of 2023, and I will be 70 years old in eight short months.)

I am pointing off to your right, and toward The Right Path. I believe my book can lead you to The Right Path and it can be a wonderful experience for you! My book also ends on the beach (Chapter 19). But please read my Epilogue which is after Chapter 19.

I was happily retired in December of 2022 (it was around the 7th or 10th of that month). Starting back then (on the day of my “beer epiphany” -seriously- I did have one!) and over the next 6-7 months or so I inadvertently underwent a transformation that has changed me in ever so many wonderful ways. I can say that it has been truly life-changing and I am happy on a level I never knew existed.

It is hard for me to sleep because each day is a wondrous adventure for me. I love to wake up, start my day, eat well, exercise, play some golf, do some acting, be with my lovely wife, Jennifer, whom I love so dearly, and see my amazing friends.  I love my life.

I wrote in my book that I had to share what I had experienced and what I had found and that is why I wrote it.

In my book, I endeavored to speak the truth in all things.

I have wondered for a long time what, exactly, is “The Near Perfect Body and the pathway to yours?”

Well, I know it is NOT a diet book, per se. You can certainly use it to lose weight, though we like to refer to “losing weight” as “improving the way you look” -- words matter!

I say with great pride that we are the birthplace and home of

Hunger Jiu-Jitsu is a revolutionary approach to taming and/or managing the “Hunger Beast”. You will read about it in Chapter 11, The Tipping Point (a truly fascinating chapter), and in Chapter 14, The NPB “Diet”.

You will also receive an excellent lesson in Hunger Jiu-Jitsu at no extra charge!

The Near Perfect Body is not an exercise book either, yet I know that it can help you embrace exercise, thereby unlocking the wonderful secret of always yearning for it, as I do!

And I can assure you, that is a great frame of mind to be in.

My book is a fitness book not just for the body, but for the mind as well. I believe that the body and mind are separate, yet permanently intertwined in a beautiful way. You must care for both. And by caring for others, you will find that you are also caring for yourself. Deep down, you know this to be true. You know it.

I think the best way to do this and frankly, to live, is to be optimistic in all things. Yet I am a realist. I know that life can be unfair and so very hard at times.

But we all know this so ask yourself, should you face difficulty with a pessimistic view or an optimistic one?

I know I need not answer that one for you, you already know the answer. You can feel the answer, can’t you? Good!

But for a long time, I felt that my book was something more than a fitness book for the body and spirit. It took a while for me to see it.

In my book, I used the metaphor of being in a dark room with a dimmer switch slowly turning up until I could see (the light) like a mighty lighthouse shining brilliantly through the dark of night!

Well, that very lighthouse is now shining again through the dark of night and I finally see The Near Perfect Body and the pathway to yours for what it really and truly is!

It is a dream.

And this dream came true for me. But yet, it is still a dream. And as such, I know it can come true for you, too. Read my book and please allow me to speak to you through it.

There is our simple sign that says “and the pathway to yours.” It also points to the right and toward the path, meaning The Right Path

So now you know why our motto is "The Right Path".

My cover is meant to make you feel as if you are walking to the beach on the first day of a wonderful vacation. Try to feel it as you read my book. You know that feeling of being in the warm sunshine and on the beach on your very first day of a long vacation! It is truly one of life’s great pleasures, isn’t it? Please be in that mindset when you open and read my book.

(There is what I think is a rather clever effect on the cover, can you find it? Hint- our cover is not perfect, but it is near perfect!)

The Near Perfect Body tells you how you can transform not only your body and your mind but your spirit as well. I also want you to smile and laugh as you read it. I want, more than anything else, for you to find real joy and happiness in your life, as I have found in mine.

There is plenty to go 'round, you will see!

I really don’t know if I just had an awakening on that incredible day in December of 2022, or if something really did find me. I suppose I will never know. But it really doesn’t matter. I am fulfilled and happy and I have shared all that I have experienced with you here and in my book. I am convinced that my book is my destiny and perhaps it is why I am here sharing this wonderful experience of life with you.

I wish you well, and again, I truly hope that here and within the pages of The Near Perfect Body, you find the happiness that you are looking for.

Thank you for listening and I hope you enjoy my book!
