About Roger

The Near Perfect Body® began the moment I stopped fighting myself, and started returning to who I really was.

Lasting change begins in the mind, and that changes everything.

Martial Arts Foundation

Roger Shorr was promoted to black belt in Kenyukai Karate in 1981. The forced discipline and inner strength he developed through martial arts became a guiding force throughout his life and career.

Financial Services Career

He entered the financial services field in 1990. In 1998, he led The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America nationwide in production.

Roger earned the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation in 1994 and the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation in 1995.

He completed graduate-level coursework in estate planning and taxation through The American College, earning a certificate in advanced planning studies.

In 2007, he became a CFP® professional.

Publications & Teaching

Roger wrote financial articles that were published in Forbes, Barron's, Trusts & Estates, and Investopedia, and contributed to Forbes Advisor Intelligence.

In 2007, he was invited to the Forbes studios for a videotaped interview with John Dobosz regarding his article "Three Golden Rules of Investing." For many years, that video was linked to the article.

As of 2025, his Forbes and Barron's articles remain available online.

Roger authored Seven Timeless Investment Mistakes and What Successful Investors Must Know, an investment guide used in client education and public seminars.

He conducted educational seminars for attorneys, CPAs, charitable organizations, and the general public, and taught financial planning courses at local community colleges.

Roger joined LPL Financial in 2007, where he continued serving clients until his retirement in 2019, when he successfully transitioned his practice to his protégé.

Stage Performance

After retiring, he performed on stage, including a lead role at the Equity Library Theater on 53rd Street in New York, where the cast received a letter from the Mayor of New York City welcoming the troupe during their August 2023 production. Later in 2023, he portrayed Stanley Kowalski in a club production of A Streetcar Named Desire.

The Transformation

From December 2022 until May 1, 2023, Roger underwent a profound personal transformation that rebuilt his health and fitness in a way he once believed was no longer possible. By May 1, he had achieved his Near Perfect Body, a milestone in a continued journey that remains part of his life today. That experience inspired him to write The Near Perfect Body® — and the Pathway to Yours and share what he learned with others.

The Near Perfect Radio Show

From 2024 through 2025, Roger hosted a sixteen-episode series, The Near Perfect Radio Show, which originally aired on Legends 100.3 FM. All episodes remain available here.

Current Training

He continues to train in the martial arts, currently studying Jiu-Jitsu. In addition, he trains one-on-one with WBC Latin American Champion Alberto "Beto" Palmetta for boxing instruction.

He now lives in West Palm Beach, Florida with his wife, Jennifer, his mother-in-law, Doris Finney-Fielder, and their dog, Daisy.

"At 71, I didn't just transform my body. I discovered that the only thing standing between you and the life you've always wanted is taking action on what you already know."
